Accommodation details
The Old Chapel offers three guest rooms, double and twin, all on the ground floor and with countryside views. All rooms have en-suite facilities, colour television, and a beverage tray. The non-smoking guest accommodation, with it's own front door, is entirely separate from the proprietors' private rooms.
The tiny village of Horsey is located on the easternmost edge of the Broads, reaching down to the dunes that border the miles of unspoiled beach. The Old Chapel lies one mile north of Horsey Mill, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by National Trust land and within a few minutes walk of both the beach and the Broads. The setting is tranquil: the sunrises and sunsets are a delight.
You do not need to get into your car to experience the North Norfolk countryside, Broads and beaches! Directly from The Old Chapel you can enjoy a circular walk that embraces open countryside, reed beds, Brograve Mill, Horsey Mere, dunes and beach, where seals can often be observed at close quarters.
There is abundant bird life all around The Old Chapel. Marsh Harriers are a common sight, and an evening stroll is often enhanced by the presence of a Barn Owl. Winter is the time to see the large flocks of Pink-footed Geese but, perhaps most exciting of all is the sight and sound of the resident Crane population - it is not unusual to see a group of Cranes feeding within a few hundred yards of The Old Chapel!
A varied breakfast menu is provided and meals are cooked individually to order. Local produce is used whenever possible and vegetarians are catered for. There are a number of nearby pubs which serve lunches and evening meals, including the Nelson Head, which is a fifteen minute walk away.
Directions
The Old Chapel is on the B1159 coast road, approximately twelve miles north of Great Yarmouth.
From Norwich, take the A47 towards Great Yarmouth, turn off at Acle onto the A1064 and then the B1152, through Martham, to the junction with the B1159. Turn left and after approximately two miles you will pass Horsey Mill; keep going, and after another mile you will arrive at The Old Chapel, where a warm welcome awaits.
